Chair of Macroeconomics was established in 1932 on the basis of Chair of Planning of Yerevan Cooperative Institute of Economics, later on the basis of Chair of National Economy Planning of Yerevan State University and Yerevan Institute of National Economy. In 1994 Chair of National Economy Planning of Yerevan Institute of National Economy was renamed Chair of Macroeconomics.

Annually about 30-35 scientific articles and methodological guidelines (also in Russian and English) are published by the Faculty of the Chair.
The Chair also implements scientific-research works, analysis the whole supply and demand ofRepublicofArmenia.
